13 Haunted Hotels (We Totally Want To Check In To)

13 Haunted Hotels (We Totally Want to Check In To) | Camille Styles

Okay, so “Thirteen Haunted-Looking Hotels” would probably be a more accurate title for this round up of gorgeously dark and vibey hotels from around the world. We cannot confirm or deny the presence of spirits in these gothic getaways, but we’d love to book a room and find out for ourselves. From Charleston to Morocco, these thirteen hotels from around the globe seem to be calling to us on a supernatural level. Message received: we’re dying to check in. ...see the slideshow here

What Your Weirdest Dreams Really Mean

Dreams within dreams and their hidden meanings...

Since we’ve been on the subject of sleep lately in this column, it only seemed natural to take a closer look at what our minds are really doing while we rest. Dreams are something we talk about a lot in the office — it seems like every other day Chanel has some terrifying nightmare about Coco (her Pomeranian) or I have another prophetic vision of the apocalypse. Our dreams are all over the map, and the strangest ones leave us feeling unsettled and longing for explanation. Everyone on our team has some sort of recurring dream, and there’s even one specific dream that we’ve all had. So we called up Cabe Lindsay, a professional dream reader and counselor, to give us more insight into what these dreams really mean. Cabe is an artist who interprets the symbols he sees in dreams to help people realize their hidden gifts, talents, and ...see the slideshow here

Our Unbelievable Studio Bathroom Renovation

the bright and airy bathroom at the Camille Styles headquarters

Is it strange that when we were first designing the #CSBungalow, I was most excited about getting to work on the bathroom? Powder rooms have always been a sort of playground when it comes to interiors, and I’ve seen even the most traditional of homes utilize the space to go wild with color, texture and pattern. But with the latest boom in clay tile and unexpected wallpaper, we’re now seeing a bathroom renaissance unlike ever before — tiny spaces with big personality. Though the rest of our new studio space is mostly white and neutral, we knew we wanted to play with some trends in the powder room. We teamed up with our friends at Kohler, and taking inspiration from their IDEAS catalogue, we created a space that is fun and feminine, but still super serene. photography by Molly Culver ...see the slideshow here

You Won’t Believe What These Influential Creatives Started Out Doing

First jobs and what we learn from them.

Fun fact: I’m the baby of the team here at CS by quite a few years. I graduated from college only two short years ago and quickly fell into my dream job of producing photo shoots and blog posts for CamilleStyles.com. How lucky, right?! In this industry, I’m surrounded by so many successful women that it can often be easy to fall into the comparison game. I often feel like I’m ten steps behind, and honestly, I’m about ten years behind, but that’s right where I’m supposed to be at this age. Recently, I’ve been making an effort to stop comparing myself to other creatives who have years and years more experience than I do. Everyone has a starting point — and most people aren’t lucky enough to land their dream job right out of college. So, I asked nine influential creatives (including two right here in our office) about their ...see the slideshow here

The Essence of Mary Lou

A Tribute to Mary Lou Fickel

A few months back we received an email from a reader in Kansas City named Kelly. She wrote to us saying that her mother (and longtime reader of our site) Mary Lou Fickel would be turning 77 years old on Monday, October 30th. Mary Lou has always loved our Mono Monday series and she even sends Kelly a special “MM alert” each time a new one is published. Kelly wanted to know, would we be willing to create a special Mono Monday in tribute to her mother? The answer was an obvious YES, and I couldn’t wait to get started building a board of all the things that inspire Mary Lou. Kelly sent us a long list of things like gardenias, L’Air Du Temps perfume, Tuscany, certain couture fashion designers and titled it “The Essence of Mary Lou”. Lucky for us, it turns out Mary Lou has incredible taste. She loves ...read the rest of the story here
