The Worst Advice We’ve Ever Found on Pinterest

We all love finding inspiration on Pinterest, especially those great quotes and motivational thoughts that seem cosmically meant to come into your feed (thank you, Coco Chanel.) But every now and then we come across advice that seems… well, a bit questionable. Here at Team CS, we gleefully file those away on a shared secret board called “Bad Advice.” We’ve been waiting for the opportune time to share them with you on the blog, and for some reason this weekend (ahem, a certain April 1st) just felt right. Scroll down for our favorite bad advice — and consider sharing some with your friends tomorrow. featured image via yaya   ...see the slideshow here

15 Vegetarian Dinners That Are Packed With Protein

sweet potato and black bean chili

I admit that I used to be one of those people who drove my vegetarian friends crazy with questions like, “But how do you get enough protein?” Like most of society, I carried around the belief that the only real way to get all the protein we need for optimal functioning was through animal products. Well my friends, after years of digging deeper into the issue, my eyes have been opened to the fact that through a diet rich in vegetables, legumes, good grains, seeds and nuts, our bodies will easily get all the amino acids (which form a “complete” protein) it needs, and there are major benefits to eating a plant-based diet, both for our bodies and for the planet. While I do incorporate small amounts of meat and fish into my diet a few times a week, many more of our meals these days are getting all their nutrients from plant-based ...see the slideshow here

Why Spring Is The Ultimate Time To Refresh Your Home

spring inspired interior design

What I’ve learned from every biography I’ve ever read and TED Talk I’ve ever watched, is that creating new habits and meeting goals is all about the setbacks. There will always be missteps, but the key is to get back up, not be too self-critical (that one’s hard) and try again. If you’re with the 80% of the population whose New Year’s resolutions have fallen by the wayside, spring is the ultimate opportunity to reset. This month we reset our clocks, the weather’s noticeably shifting, and it’s a perfect time to make our home reflect that too. That can mean a trip to the nursery, a fresh coat of white paint on scuffed walls, or a scrubbing session with your baseboards (which I find oddly satisfying). For me, I’ve been feeling the urge to take everything off my bookshelves in my home, and get rid of accessories and things in ...read the rest of the story here

Mini Skirt + Sneakers

Fashion Sweatshirt with Mini Skirt + Classic Adidas Sneakers

*ed note: This week’s edition of Pulling It Off was inspired by a personal wardrobe challenge. Like the rest of the planet, I’ve started wearing sneakers with just about every type of outfit, except for one that has continue to stump me: skirts! Every time I donned a skirt + sneakers combo, the look ended up feeling frumpy, so with the onset of warmer temps (and mini skirts on the horizon), I begged our resident stylist Taylor to help me nail the look. Keep reading for his tips!  Spring is here, which means fashion is taking a much-needed breath of fresh air as we anticipate Saturday mornings spent with friends at the farmer’s market or soaking up rays at Barton Springs. That said; neither of these hotspots will call for high heels and tight dresses… bring on the sneakers! photos by kate lesueur ...see the slideshow here
