Darling Magazine

When we first began the Office Style series at Camille Styles, a visit to Darling headquarters was on our short list of dream destinations. And we’re not alone — if you google “Darling Magazine” the most often searched phrases end with “jobs” and “internships”. It seems like everyone is dying to get in the door of this stylish publication known for it’s refreshing and thoughtful content. We’ll freely admit: we first picked up a copy of Darling for it’s gorgeous cover printed on amazing matte paper. But we really fell in love with the LA-based publication when we opened it to discover page after page of honest inspiration. These were stories for us. Women who believe that style can co-exist with standards. Standards like modesty, integrity, and self-respect. Women who aren’t afraid to question the photoshopped messages of the mainstream media. It’s no surprise that the three women we interviewed ...see the slideshow here

Wes Anderson’s Graphic Designer

Undeniably, no filmmaker has been more influential over an entire generation of bloggers, ad geeks, and instagrammers than Wes Anderson. From our overhead shots of supplies to our love of Futura, his influence runs deep. And just when we think we’ve got him pegged for tracked out sans serif, he’ll drop a caution yellow script on us (à la Moonrise Kingdom). We can never wait to see what he’ll do next visually, and what magic he’ll create with his hand-picked team of talented production designers. Graphic designer Annie Atkins is one such artist — she worked alongside Wes to create all of the graphic elements for his most visually stunning movie to date, The Grand Budapest Hotel. The Dublin-based designer worked in advertising and film for years before she got the call from Wes. And it’s a gig that’s undeniably changed her life. (Since we interviewed her, the film was ...see the slideshow here

Wooden Clothespin Easter Cupcake Toppers

Are any of you hosting Easter this year? If so, what special menu items or decorative details do you have planned? One of my best friends is hosting her parents and her in-laws for the first time this year, and needless to say, the pressure is on! When she came to me on a quest for a simple-yet-adorable accent for her table, the perfect project came to mind. I’ve always thought that those wooden clothespins that are sold at craft stores resemble the shape of an upside-down bunny rabbit, and with little more than paint and glue, I created these cupcake toppers that are perfect for adorning your Easter eats. Keep reading for the easy step-by-step… *photos by kate zimmerman Instructions Cover the wooden clothespin entirely in paint. White, light brown, or light gray are best. Allow to dry completely, Use a fine tipped paint brush to carefully paint pale ...read the rest of the story here

The Best New Spring Scents

Sure, warmer temperatures are wonderful, but the number-one thing I look forward to in the spring isn’t simply more sunshine and rising mercury. My favorite thing about those first few above-40-degrees days is the freshness and sweetness that comes into the air; the promise of flora and fauna that are to come. To complement the sensory experience that is the new season, I love to update my fragrance around this time every year. The beauty equivalent of throwing open the windows, a fresher, lighter, or even an unexpected scent adds some much-needed new life to my beauty routine, making me feel as if anything is possible. Join me in saying an official goodbye to dark, freezing days by checking out my spring fragrance picks — and let me know which one you’ll be greeting the new season with! featured image via scent of obsession ...see the slideshow here

The Lavender Eye

There’s no easier way to shake up your cold weather makeup routine than by adding an unexpected pop of color. We met up with uber-talented makeup artist Avery Allen at Sabia Salon to talk about what’s new for spring in terms of hue: “Lavender eye shadow was a big hit on the S/S 2015 runways, and I wanted to translate that trend into an approachable day-time makeup look,” Avery explained as she pulled out her brushes to get started with lovely model Ane Urquiola Alberu. “Lavender will make any eye color pop and really brightens up the face. This is a soft and easy way to change up your every day makeup,” she added. Ane’s green eyes look amazing with the purple contrast, and we think you’ll be pleasantly surprised that a lilac shade will compliment your natural eye color as well. Even if you don’t think of yourself as ...read the rest of the story here

Adam and Eleanor

photographed by kate lesueur When we were working with Eleanor and Adam last fall to do an “Entertaining With” feature, we got an unexpected but exciting call. “We may have to put the shoot on hold,” said Adam. “We just put an offer on a house!” Fast-forward four months later and you’d never believe this cute couple have only been living in their bright and modern East Austin home since November. But for those who know the two, it should come as no surprise: Adam Rasmus is the creative director and partner at what.it.is and Eleanor Bartosh is a designer and digital strategist with PricewaterhouseCoopers. With their combined talent and ability, there isn’t much this creative power couple can’t do together on any budget or timeline. Their divide-and-conquer attitude extends to the kitchen as well, where Eleanor and Adam like to whip up casual and delicious meals for friends and ...see the slideshow here
